Three steps come first, and they are the part most people underestimate. You send a sketch, photograph, or 3D model. The design team converts it into detailed production drawings that specify dimensions, finish, material, and light source. You review and approve those drawings. Only then does the 15 to 30 day production window open. Engineers also review the design for safety and manufacturability during this stage, which can send a drawing back for revision.
Budget one to two weeks for this phase on a straightforward piece. Each round of drawing revisions adds to it, and revisions are the single largest source of schedule slip on a custom order.

In practice, most chandeliers over roughly 39 inches across cross the threshold. A 74-inch Lyla Linear Chandelier will always travel by sea; a 7-inch solid brass sconce never will.
Does a single custom piece take longer than a production run?

Common mistakes that add weeks
- Sending a photograph with no dimensions. A reference image without a target width or drop length adds at least one drawing round, typically 5 to 7 days.
